Direct and Inverse Variation

In this lesson we will be studying direct and inverse variation.  The concept of variation is simply how two or mare variables “relate” to one another.  For example lets look at the formula A=BH the formula gives us the area of a rectangle.  Now given the formula A=BH, what would happen to the area (A) if I made the base of the rectangle (B) larger and larger-  the area would get larger and larger as well, correct?  You see as I increase the value of B in this equation the value of A goes up as well- this is an example of direct variation.  My lesson will go over many details about variation so make sure you take good notes and practice, practice, practice.
