Exponential Growth and Decay

In this lesson I will introduce you to the topic of exponential growth and decay.  As you study more math you will learn about different types of functions that model how fast something “grows” or “decays”.  An example of exponential growth would be the rate at which the population of germs grows- over time it grows faster and faster.   An example of exponential decay would be how slow radioactive material decays- it gets smaller and smaller over time but the rate of decrease slows down over time.  You want to have a good understanding of powers and exponents for this lesson.  In future chapters (more advance) we will explore exponential/ functions in much more detail.
