Introduction to Functions and Relations

In this lesson I will introduce you to functions and relations.  You will here the the word “function” over and over in algebra and it’s so important that you understand what makes a function a function.  Functions and relations are nothing more than a collection of points.  The points that I’m talking about are points on the x-y plane where points are expressed as an ordered pair (x, y). So for example (1, 3) is a point and { (1, 3),  (4, 9),  (-8, 0) }  would be a collection (set) of points. This lesson is pretty long as I go into a lot of detail about the basics of relations and functions.  I can’t stress how important it is to take good notes and practice as much as you can. Good luck!
