In this lesson I will teach you about trapezoids. A trapezoid is a special type of quadrilateral. Just like a parallelogram is a special quadrilateral so is the trapezoid and this lesson will focus entirely on what makes a trapezoid unique. As you will see in the video the trapezoid is more involved than a parallelogram. Hence you want to take your time with the lesson so you understand the parts and terms related to a trapezoid. It’s easy for a student to get quadrilateral theorems and properties confused so make sure your notes are well organized and clear. Quick pop quiz: do you know the difference between a parallelogram and a trapezoid? Well if you said a trapezoid only has one pair of parallel sides where a parallelogram has both pairs of opposite sides parallel you would be correct. Also, the area formulas for a parallelogram and trapezoid are much different as well. Like I was saying trapezoids have more aspects we need to study than parallelograms and each detail is important. Don’t forget to keep reviewing algebra- you will see algebra used in many geometry problems so keep your skills sharp.
