After completing my math degree I severed in the US Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer. In one of my tours I served as an Engineering Power Plant Officer. The job was very interesting and challenging and gave me an opportunity to use a lot of my analytical skills developed in mathematics. Many students often say “where would I ever use math in the real world!”. I think that if we don’t make math interesting to applications in the “real world” we fail many students that could love engineering and the sciences. After doing a video on **celestial navigation and math **I was compelled to do a video on steam plants. The video is more of a science video however I think would be great for those that are studying basic physics or chemistry.
