In this lesson I will teach you how to factor a quadratic trinomial. Recall that a quadratic trinomial is a polynomial so really what we are doing in this lesson is expanding our knowledge of polynomial factoring. As you will see in the lesson, there are two cases when we factor a quadratic polynomial- i.e. there are two basic types of quadratic trinomials we will explore. Also, I want to be clear that not all polynomials can be factored so just because we have a quadratic trinomial does not mean we can factor it- of course we try and that is what this lesson is all about. One last thing before you watch the video, factoring is opposite of multiplication so make sure you have a strong understanding of polynomial multiplication especially the FOIL method. Good luck!
