Operations with Radicals

In this lesson I will teach you about operations with radicals.  Recall that a radical is a square root so what we really will be studying is how to perform operations with square roots.  These operations will focus on adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing.  In addition to these operations we will also learn something called “rationalizing” the denominator- it’s a way of removing irrational numbers (square roots with an irrational number inside) from the denominator. As part of rationalizing you may need to find something called the “conjugate”.  As you can see you will be learning a lot of new terms and concepts so take your time and take excellent notes.  Of course if you expect to really learn the material you need to do several practice problems as well- good luck!
